There are times when a blogger, like any other writer, "will lose his muse". Every idea that comes to mind seems trivial or boring, or worse, no idea comes to mind. What can a blogger do? Here are five tactics that could clear the cobwebs and allow you to come up with an inspiring idea for another great post:
Start with the news! Open your favorite news page or open a newspaper and see what catches your eye. What are politicians doing today? Is there any pending legislation that worries you or scares you completely? Or maybe someone is running for or proposing a law that you may want to publicly support. Surely some celebrities will get in trouble again; Do you have anything to say about it? Maybe you have an idea of who should date or marry whom. Who died? A good memorial post for a good person might be helpful. What happened on this date in the last few years? Some past events are worth researching and writing about. Do you like sports? Many bloggers or blog readers are passionate about sports and may be interested in your opinion on the playoffs or players. Don't forget to check the editorial page and the letters to the editor, do you agree with the opinions? Tell the world why or why not.
Read some blogs! Start browsing your favorite blogs. What are you talking about? You may have a different perspective on the latest hot topic that might be of interest to your fellow bloggers or a perspective that might them off (by the way, never worry about off bloggers, most of them love to have something to complain about. ). If you can't find anything that inspires you on your favorite blog, browse some of those blogs that always drive you crazy; the ones that seem to promote anything that goes against your lifestyle. Anger is always a good motivation for a blog, but don't get so angry that you become irrational. Comment on some blog posts and then expand your comments on a blog post. Also try accessing Blog Explosion, Blog Clicker, or one of the many other programs that generate blog traffic - there are plenty of ideas out there that are worth writing from a pro or con perspective.
What were you watching or reading? Have you read good (or bad) books lately? Write about your latest reading: recommend it, explore it, or even write a summary for your blog (but don't reveal the ending). And the movies? The big or unfortunate losers might be worth a few good or bad words; You could make movie or book reviews a regular feature of your blog. The same goes for television programs. Start a series that follows your favorite TV show, there may be several fans of the same show who will be interested in your shot and will appreciate your summary of the episodes that were missed. If there is a book, movie, or TV show that you found great, there is sure to be a critic who has criticized it. Find the negative review and write a post that contradicts the reviewer's views.
What have you been doing all this time? Your workplace, your colleagues, your bosses, your home and your family are fair game for your blog. Be short and fun and you'll have a great post. Once you've introduced your readers to a particularly interesting person, you may want to do some sequels. When was your last travel vacation? Write a travelogue about where you've been or do a little research on some places you'd like to go and write about them. Do you have a special ability? If you can do something unique or something common but made special by what you know, there may be people interested in knowing how to do it. Give advice on how to cook, sew, clean, repair projects, take care of pets, babysit, beauty secrets, personal care or organization. Make it a regular feature on your blog. If you have a digital camera, find an interesting subject, take pictures, and then write something based on the topic. If you found it interesting, funny, or sad, chances are someone else is interested in it.
